Event Type Art Workshop Description Join the Putnam History Museum and 30-year art teacher Thom Johnson for this day-long plein air drawing class held at the stunning Northgate Ruins (old Cornish Estate). Students will be instructed to create observational drawings at the site. Instruction will include pencil types and their uses, shading, blending and how to build a drawing. All materials will be provided. No experience necessary. The workshop will meet at 9:30 AM at the Hudson Highlands State Park Parking Lot, across from Little Stony Point (3007 Bear Mountain-Beacon Hwy, Cold Spring, NY 10516). All art supplies will be provided; please pack water, snacks, and bagged lunch. Thom Johnson is a lifetime resident of the Hudson Valley who has used ruins as inspiration for much of his work. Thom was the Art Teacher for the Irvington High School for over 30 years. He has also been working with the State Park staff to clear and care for the Northgate site.
