Event Type Walk/Hike Description General Benedict Arnold is infamous for his thwarted plan to surrender American-controlled West Point to the British during the Revolutionary War. Join the Putnam History Museum for a history hike of Arnold’s escape path through present day Garrison, NY. Along the way we’ll discuss why the General was driven to betray the Revolution and how prominent local loyalist Beverley Robinson aided Arnold’s mission. We will be joined by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County and they will explore some of the ways that the natural environment plays a part in the history of the area. This history hike includes scenic views of the Hudson River and West Point and will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail is one mile in length but includes uneven rocky terrain and several steep hills. Appropriate footwear and active/outdoor attire strongly suggested.
