For the first time ever, the Hudson River Valley Ramble is hosting a Photo Contest during the Ramle in September. The Photo Contest challenges event participants to capture the most spectacular moments, natural landscapes, wildlife, historic landmarks, and more. Details
Event Type Nature Journaling in the morning and a guided tour of the preserve in the afternoon. Description Join The Environmental Cooperative & The Preserve at Vassar staff for a morning of nature journaling followed by a guided hike in the afternoon. From 10am to 12pm, outdoor educator Aimee Schwartz will lead a nature journaling activity that includes a 40 minute hike on our Swain Trail with built in opportunities for making art and writing in nature. From 2pm to 4pm we will host a tour of The Preserve at Vassar's 400 plus acres. This will include 2 hours of walking over easy to moderate terrain and several wildlife viewing stations. Come for one or both of the events! Wear closed toed shoes and long pants to protect against ticks and poison ivy. Lunch will not be provided but all are welcome to bring a lunch and have a picnic on The Preserve at Vassar. Both the 10am hike and the 2pm hike will start and end at the parking lot in front of The Environmental Cooperative at 50 Vassar Farm Lane in Poughkeepsie NY. Additional Equipment Required: Wear comfortable footwear and long pants to protect against ticks and poisen ivy. Nature journals will be provided for any one who needs one. Sunscreen and refillable water bottles are recommended.Event Duration (hours): 2
