Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description Recent archeological excavation of the Gardener's Cottage unearthed a poem that local scholars believe contains the clues to Matthew Vassar's hidden treasure at Springside. Join volunteers of Springside Landscape Restoration for a guided tour of Andrew Jackson Downing's historic landscape and receive a copy of the treasure hunt poem for further exploration and amusement. Springside is a 20-acre designed landscape and historic site that was once the county estate of Matthew Vassar and is the only landscape of Andrew Jackson Downing to survive largely intact.
