Event Type Walk/Hike Description A hike in Sylvan Glen Park Preserve is more than just a walk in the woods. It is a visit to the former Mohegan Granite Quarry with recently installed interpretive signs about the history of the quarry and how stone was removed. This guided tour will explain the multiple steps in the quarrying process and show you remnants of the quarrying operation. The quarry operated from 1890 to 1941 and was once a major supplier of granite for buildings, including the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine New York City. Assemble in the parking lot at end of Morris Lane. Organization Hosting the Event Yorktown Trail Town Committee and NY-NJ Trail Conference
