Event Type Workshop Description Want to learn hands-on cemetery preservation techniques? Then make sure to join GHHN on September 28th at Historic Huguenot Street for our Stone Strategies workshop! These workshops are a hands-on opportunity for citizens, local historians, educators, librarians, genealogists, community groups and historical societies to learn professional and practical steps for stewardship, identification, documentary, and the cleaning and preservation strategies that are necessary to preserve a vanishing heritage. This is a full day workshop: a morning full of practical, useful information and an afternoon in the cemetery learning functional hands-on preservation methods. A light breakfast, lunch, and resource packet are included. Participants should dress comfortably and wear sneakers or work boots as we will be working outdoors with water and dirt. Please note: This workshop will take place rain or shine - if it's rainy, we will have large canopy tents to work under! Thank you to the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area/Hudson River Valley Greenway for generously supporting these trainings and to Historic Huguenot Street for hosting us!
