Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description Tour Rondout Creek Aboard a 100% Solar Powered Boat Built by the Hudson River Maritime Museum! As we cruise along the Rondout Creek and Hudson River from the Hudson River Maritime Museum, you will learn about the shipwrecks, both intentional and accidental, of the area. Your knowledgeable tour guide will point out the remnants of historic vessels poking above the surface of the Rondout Creek or hidden below its depths, sharing their stories. Learn about cargo schooners, passenger steamboats, towboats and tugboats, and barges which once lined Rondout Creek as well as the Thomas Cornell Steamboat Company, Hudson River Day Line, the Delaware & Hudson Canal, and specific vessels such as the steamboat Mary Powell and the Erie Canal hoodledasher Frank A. Lowery, which are just a few of the known vessels sunk in Rondout Creek. Don't miss this unique opportunity to see the shipwrecks of the Rondout Creek from the water!
