Event Type Wilderness Skills Workshop Description Learn all the skills to be an accomplished outdoor enthusiast! This weekend skills workshop is great for both novices and experienced outdoor enthusiasts. This weekend course is mix of classroom, plus lots and lots of practical, hands-on, situational instruction. Sample curriculum includes: - Demo the Latest Camping Equipment - Select the Right Gear for the Right Situation - Choose the Best Backcountry Campsites - Build a Fire - Five Ways & in the Rain - Cook Over an Open Fire - Canoe & Kayak Rescue - Knots & Lines for Hikers, Campers, Boaters and Climbers - Backcountry Navigation: Map, Compass and GPS - Plan a Route - Erase the Trace - Anticipate & Manage Weather Conditions - Oh Shoot! Now what?! Deal with Common Emergencies - Forage for Edibles - Gear Hacks - and more! In the evening, we will put those skills to use building a giant bonfire to roast marshmallows and wallow in s'mores. Bring musical instruments if you want to jam.
