Springside Landscape Tour

Join Shannon Butler, Historian for the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, for a walking tour of Springside National Historic Landmark. Springside, laid out by prominent Hudson Valley landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing, was designed to be a beautifully landscaped retreat for local brewer and philanthropist, Matthew Vassar. Today the site’s paths are still preserved to give us an idea of how Downing wanted people to use and enjoy the land. These outdoor tours require lots of walking so dress accordingly, with appropriate footwear.

Tour of Calvert Vaux's The Point

A walking tour of The Point, an 1855 country estate designed by Calvert Vaux, including the main house, unused since 1963, the brick barns, and the landscape. Vaux's first solo commission after the death of his mentor, Andrew Jackson Downing, remarkably undeveloped since the Hoyt family left 63 years ago.

We welcome you to experience a session that covers yoga essentials and is geared toward beginners, but all levels are welcome. Blended with this is a 'one of a kind' Lavender Experience, creating your very own loofah to enjoy at home. Virgina Bocchicchio has been practicing Yoga for 20 years and teaching since 2007 in The Hudson Valley and Brooklyn, NY. Her teachings develop balance and stability through energetic opposites, along with careful alignment principles, assist in developing strength, steadiness and ease in any yoga practice. Andrea Parent-Tibbetts is the owner of Clover Brooke Farm, known for their premier Llama/Alpaca Hikes and Small Animal Fiber Farming Experiences through Airbnb. She has been a Fiber Artist for over 20 years, raising fiber animals since 2010. She is often seen teaching classes on the farm (and within the Community) on Handcrafted Goat Milk Soap, Wet and Needle Felting, Hand Spinning and other aspects of Fiber Art.

The weekend includes workshops sponsored by Scenic Hudson addressing public access and interaction with the Fall Kill.

Detailed Times/Hours: The White Glove Tour, which includes a tour of the home, barn and garden, will highlight items from Mount Gulian's collections rarely on display and seldom seen by the pubic. Allow 1.5 hours.

Visitors will hear about Mount Gulian’s centuries-long history that shaped our nation, including its part in the Revolutionary War as Patriot General Von Steuben’s headquarters, and the history of generations of Verplanck family members who lived here. Our truly unique White Glove Tour allows visitors to hold and examine artifacts representing 300 years of history. Under museum staff supervision, visitors will be invited to put on white, cotton, curatorial gloves before handling artifacts and documents.

Clover Brooke Farm, Hyde Park NY Join us for our 7th Annual Farm Sampler Experience Day This Farm Sampler Experience is a reflection of the many different programs we offer at the farm in a modified version. This is for participants ages 5 yrs old and up, 2 hours in length. Cost is $50 per person-only offered on-9/19/2026 Our Sampler Experience is a reflection of a series of Experiences we offer at the farm once a year, in a modified version. You will walk your own llama or alpaca, visit with some of our smaller animals (baby goats, sheep and young llamaa) and learn how to felt your own bar of hand crafted soap, made right on the farm. You will experience a ‘modified’ walking/ working Fiber Farm tour amongst our 45 bucolic pastured acres. Our hope is that this tour will allow you to reconnect with a quieter side of life, one that allows for relaxation, warm and welcoming animal encounters and a country stroll through our pastures allowing a reconnection to nature. We will be spending all our time outside (RAIN or SHINE) and encourage appropriate seasonal attire! For your safety, please wear closed toed shoes. Clover Brooke Farm, 175 Ruskey Lane Hyde Park, NY experience is for participants ages 5yrs and older. No dogs or pets allowed on the farm. Each participant MUST have a reservation for the Llama/Alpaca Farm Experience their is NO sharing or following during the hike, without being registered. International Observe the Moon Night at Innisfree

Celebrate NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night with family and friends under the nearly full moon. Tucked in an ancient glacial bowl that defines the horizon, Innisfree has very little light pollution, making night sky viewing here a sublime experience. The moon will be at a clear waxing gibbous phase, with approximately 60% of its surface illuminated. Bring your binoculars, which are terrific for moon viewing. Volunteers from the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will answer questions and have telescopes set up to provide visitors with closer looks at the moon and other noteworthy celestial bodies. Space is limited. If the garden reaches capacity, guests with pre-reserved tickets will be given priority.

Landscape Walk: What You See & Don't See

Enjoy guided stroll across the historic grounds of the Gilded Age estate of Ruth and Ogden Mills, uncovering hidden landscape secrets along the way. The location of fabulous weekend parties for the most elite society of the Gilded Age, Staatsburgh presented a picture of perfect beauty and luxury while deliberately using landscape elements to hide the technology and labor that made the estate run. Using historic photos of the grounds, this 1-hour tour will show what visitors would have seen 100+ years ago, but also reveal what was hidden from them. "What You See & What You Don't See" will be about one mile of mostly level terrain, with some uphill walking. This tour will be canceled in the event of heavy rain or excessive heat. Please wear comfortable shoes, a hat for sun, and bring water.

Walkway at Night

Experience Walkway Over the Hudson like never before at Walkway at Night, when the sun sets and the Hudson Valley begins to glow. From 212 feet above the river, take in breathtaking views as the moon rises overhead and the lights of Poughkeepsie and Highland shimmer in the distance. There’s truly nothing like a twilight stroll across the World’s Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. Weather permitting, our friends from the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will join us on the bridge with telescopes, offering a closer look at the night sky and the celestial wonders above. Walkway members attend free. Non-members may purchase tickets for $5 in advance or at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Pre-registration is encouraged to shorten your wait at the gate. Friends of the Walkway is a nonprofit partner of New York State Parks. All proceeds and additional donations from Walkway At Night directly support our mission to connect communities and enhance the Walkway experience for all through engaging programs, special events, and ongoing improvements. Follow Staatsburgh staff outside the estate walls for a free guided walking tour of the hamlet of Staatsburg. The tour will visit several historic locations - including, long forgotten factories, bustling downtown hotels, and medieval memorials - focusing on Staatsburg's storied history and its close connection to the Staatsburgh estate. This 90-minute tour through the center of Staatsburg will begin at St. Margaret's Church and follow a circuit for about a mile. Parking is available at St. Margaret's Church and the Staatsburg Library. The tour will be mostly level terrain, with some uphill walking.

Music for Peace: The Hudson Valley Shakuhachi Choir

Acclaimed musicians, composers, and teachers Elizabeth Brown and Ralph Samuelson once again bring the evocative sounds of the Japanese bamboo flute, shakuhachi, to Innisfree with the Hudson Valley Shakuhachi Choir. This ensemble of players performs music that resonates beautifully across the garden in a program of traditional spiritual pieces, folk songs, and new works. Please bring a blanket or folding chair for this early evening event. This performance is part of Innisfree’s programming for Gardens for Peace, an annual nationwide initiative coordinated by the North American Japanese Garden Foundation in honor of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace.
