Plein Air Painting Workshop with Beth Rundquist: Celebrating Frederic Church’s 200 Years

Over the course of three days, participants will focus on developing skills of drawing, composition, and painting through keen observation of nature “en plein air” or outdoors. Under Beth’s instruction, students will broaden their knowledge of mixing color and applying paint to achieve their personal creative goals, learning to see their subjects with clarity. Participants may work in the medium of their choice and will receive demonstrations to understand composition and the relationships between color, textures, and line. Each day will conclude with a group discussion and opportunity to share experiences. Some painting experience is required for this workshop. All mediums are welcome; materials not included. Roe Jan Ramble Bike Tour

Join us for the 14th anniversary of the Roe Jan Ramble Bike Tour! It's free to all participants and is sponsored by the towns of Copake, Hillsdale and Ancram, NY on the border of Massachusetts. There are six routes to choose from (10, 18, 25, 35, 50 miles, and 100km/62.5 miles) on quiet country roads in some of the most beautiful scenery of the Hudson Valley & Taconic foothills you've ever seen. While the ride is free, we encourage donations to support the Harlem Valley Rail Trail in Taconic State Park.

Experience learning, looking closely, and conversation as a family during this series of special museum gallery tours at Olana State Historic Site. Each month, The Olana Partnership educators will lead an exploration of two to three works of art through family-friendly dialogue and other hands-on activities. After your tour, extend your day at OLANA and head down to the Wagon House Education Center for a free drop-in program, Art Making in the Afternoon from 1-4 PM.

History Hiking Tour of Germantown

This hiking history tour will start in the heart of Germantown, following Main Street to Palatine Park where we will pick up the trail system leading to the 1767 Parsonage and the brand-new Theodore Robinson Community Forest. We will take a lunch break at the 1767 Parsonage. Total walking distance of 5 miles. Led by Town of Germantown Historian Tom Shannon.
