Join us at America's first Shaker Settlement for our annual Harvest Craft Fair! There will be over 75 artisans there! Also, we will have hands on activities, live music, craft demonstrations, delicious food, a petting farm, and sheep shearing! There is something for the whole family. Parking is free and admission is a suggested donation of $5. Proceeds benefit the Shaker Heritage Society and our mission to revitalize this historic land.

Join Discover Albany for a guided walking tour about Discover Albany's revolutionary history! The tour begins at The Discover Albany Visitors Center, showcasing the finalist in the Revolutionary War LEGO Challenge! From there, guests will explore downtown Albany's historic streets while hearing tales of Albany's historic past. Highlights of the tour include The Quackenbush House at The Olde English Pub (1736) and The Van Ostrande-Radliff House at 48 Hudson Avenue (1728). We'll share stories of revolutionary era figures, including Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin and more.

Exploring the Canals of Cohoes

Description: Cohoes began its rise to industrial prominence as a canal town. The Erie and Champlain Canals traversed Cohoes, and this network of waterways, along with abundant waterpower, made Cohoes a leader in the Industrial Revolution. This walking tour will feature canal towpaths where mules pulling barges once trod, limestone locks built by hand, and other historic canal features. On the tour, you will learn the history of this 19th century technological achievement and find out the different routes the canal took through Cohoes over time. At stops along the route, you will hear stories of life in a lively canal town, learn about some of the people instrumental in developing and building the canal, and discover how transportation and power canals and the Cohoes Falls led to the growth of the Harmony Mills and other industries in Cohoes. The tour will begin at the Cohoes Visitor Center.

Middle: 3:30-4:30 pm Tour the Ten Broeck Mansion and visit the 4 acres of grounds and gardens - you are welcome to arrive early - bring and enjoy a snack in our gardens before your tour (pack in/pack out all waste). End at 5 pm: Underground Railroad Education Center (Myers Residence - concludes at 6 pm)

Immerse yourself in history! Join these special sequential tours, allowing you to visit three of Albany's finest historic sites exploring freedom and opportunity from the 1700s-1800s, and how immigrants and African Americans shaped our nation's ideas about freedom. Learn about the lives of enslaved persons, and the accomplishments and contributions of free persons of color in Albany. Learn how Albany grew and transformed: the lives of Irish immigrants, reformers and abolitionists, and Albany's important role for freedom-seekers on the underground railroad. These tours explore the complex connections between immigration, Black History, and the development of Albany, and have been singled out by historians for their innovation and high quality of interpretation. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in history - comparing and contrasting the three museums and historic sites you visit, learning about the complex stories of those who built Albany NY and our nation as we celebrate the United States' 250th anniversary.

Detailed Times/Hours: The Head of the Hudson Regatta celebrates its 38th anniversary this year, bringing rowers of all ages and experience levels to the Hudson River. The race course stretches from north of the I-90 Bridge to Jennings Landing, with excellent viewing opportunities along the riverfront bike path. More than 30 events feature junior, collegiate, adult, novice, experienced, and adaptive athletes competing in Singles, Doubles, Pairs, Quads, Fours, and Eights. Winners are determined by the fastest times in each event, and the All-Points Trophy is awarded to the team with the highest overall score.

The Mayor’s Garden: History of the Ten Broeck Mansion Gardens & Workers

Embark on a special tour as we delve into the rich history of the 1798 Ten Broeck Mansion and its grounds, uncovering its deep-rooted connections to Albany and the surrounding region. This tour explores the contributions of workers, including African American Master Gardeners (a historic term), and their pivotal roles in developing the Hudson Valley estates. Discover the diversity of plants imported from around the world while exploring the historic 1764 boundaries of the site, including visits to the former orchard and archaeological locations of key landscape features from the 18th and 19th centuries. Learn about Thomas Worth Olcott, a noted banker in Abraham Lincoln’s close circle, and his passion for horticulture, along with the lives of the gardeners who created the famed gardens at the Ten Broeck Mansion. Operated by the Albany County Historical Association as a community-centered museum and gardens, the Ten Broeck Mansion has welcomed the public for 77 years, showcasing the enduring relevance of this historic site to our community.

Discover Tawasentha: Nature, History, & the Normans Kill

Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, the Town of Guilderland Conservation Advisory Council, and the Tree Preservation Committee for a guided hike through one of the Capital Region's most remarkable natural landscapes. This hike will explore the rich biodiversity of the Normans Kill, local conservation efforts, and more. Whether you're interested in nature, history, or conservation, this walk offers a unique opportunity to experience Tawasentha Park through the stories that have shaped it for centuries. We will meet at the small pavilion at the bottom of the hill. Once you drive into the Park, you'll pass the pool building and main parking lot, and start descending the hill while passing a larger pavilion. Find a parking spot, and you'll see the small pavilion on the left side. Look for signs.
