Details

Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description In conjunction with the exhibition "Leaving Bishop Falls: An Ashokan Story," April Beisaw will discuss her new book, "Taking Water for the City: The Archaeology of New York City's Watershed Communities." Dr. Beisaw teaches at Vassar College and hundreds of students have worked with her on archaeological digs in the watershed. The exhibition features the work of artist Kate McGloughlin, a 12th-generation Ulster county resident, and captures the sense of loss her family still carries from the seizure of Bishop Falls. Her kin, and many like them, were forcibly removed from their land to create the Ashokan Reservoir. Organization Hosting the Event Ulster County Historical Society Phone Number 845-377-1040
