Event Type Walk/Hike Description Our self-guided walk follows a portion of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail which is now part of the Empire State Trail. The trail also goes through SUNY New Paltz, and the longer 6 mile trail goes through residential areas as well. The Village of New Paltz is alive with retail stores, restaurants, and pubs. There is a moderately steep hill near SUNY New Paltz. Also, a portion of the walk will be on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail which is now part of the Empire State Trail.Additional Equipment Required: A walking stick is always advisable.
