Event Type Walk/Hike Description Join Winnakee Land Trust on a community Nature Awareness Walk made possible with generosity from AT&T. Follow Guest Naturalist Steven Michael Pague as he leads you through the Winnakee Nature Preserve — train your eye to be a nature observer. Notice the abundance of Wildlife in your own backyard. The Winnakee Nature Preserve, one of Winnakee’s public access parks, is easy to get to in Hyde Park, from Rhinebeck or Poughkeepsie along Route 9; the Google Address is: 4204 Albany Post Rd (Rt. 9), Hyde Park, NY 12538 Parking for the event will be at 31 Terwilliger Road (9am sharp) at the Winnakee Nature Preserve designated parking area. We encourage you to visit our website, to see more information about what to expect and what the Preserve and the region has to offer. **Please Note because of flooding waterbed, we have had to change the parking area for Saturday’s Nature Awareness Walk. We are asking attendees to: Please meet at 9:00 a.m. Sharp at 31 Terwilliger Road at the Winnakee Nature Preserve designated parking area. Bring or wear bug spray. Additional Information

This easy to moderate hike takes you on dirt-surfaced woods roads with rolling hills for a 1.3 mile hike round trip. You’ll enjoy babbling brooks and a chorus of forest birds as you meander through upland hardwood forests and hemlock groves.
Additional Equipment Required: What to Bring: •Sturdy shoes or hiking boots •Light colored, long-sleeved shirts and pants with socks (to tuck pants into) — great tick barrier •Insect repellent •Water bottle (light refreshment provided) •Please leave Fluffy and Fido at home (I’m sure they’ll understand and you can make it up to them later). •Please arrive a few minutes early for all events, to park and get your bearings. •Hikes in the preserve are fairly easy; a few small hills and wide, well maintained trails, •Binoculars for those interested in viewing birds and other wildlife
