Event Type Historic Site Tour/History Description For countless generations, Algonquian-speaking peoples relied on the Hudson River and its tributaries for their survival. Come aboard Solaris to learn about indigenous lifeways and history on the Hudson River over the centuries. Depending on season, tide and weather, visitors will learn about everything from the role of the tide in gathering wetland plants and shellfish, to weather lore and bird folklore. Tours are guided by ethnoecologist Justin Wexler of Wild Hudson Valley, who has studied Hudson Valley indigenous culture, languages, and history for over twenty years.
