Details

Event Type Walk/Hike Description Join geologist Robert Titus for some journeys into the past at the Greenport Conservation Area. This is a spot on the globe that has been here for four and one half billion years. About 450 million years ago, this was an abyss at the bottom of a marine trench. All around was the cold darkness of a deep-sea bottom. About 14,000 years ago this was the bottom of a cold, shallow ice age lake. How do geologists know these things? Come along with us and find out. Walk the Greenport Conservation Area and see it as you have never seen it before. This round-trip walk will be an hour and a half. Rain date Sat. Sept 30.
